Russian Air Attacks Intensify on Ukraine

Ukraine, KharkivFriday, April 3, 2026
Ukraine’s air force reports that Russia has started a rolling aerial assault on its territory, beginning Thursday night. The new pattern follows an earlier overnight drone swarm and now includes daytime strikes, signalling a shift in Moscow’s strategy to break through Ukrainian air defenses. The commander of the Ukrainian military says Russian forces are experimenting with fresh routes, newer drone models and evolving tactics. Over the past day, more than 400 long‑range drones were launched, along with ten ballistic missiles aimed at frontline areas. This mirrors a similar attack on Tuesday that killed four civilians after a massive drone barrage was followed by another wave during daylight.
The heavy bombardment forces many Ukrainian government offices, schools and businesses to shut down for hours, disrupting daily life. In the eastern city of Kharkiv, a missile, bomb and drone onslaught injured 25 people and killed one. The governor noted that four ballistic missiles struck the city overnight, resulting in a single reported injury. These attacks highlight Russia’s persistent pressure on Ukraine and the continuing challenge of protecting civilians amid relentless aerial offensives.
