Russia and China: A New Era of Easy Travel
President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree allowing tourists, business people, academics, artists, and athletes from China to enter Russia without a visa for up to 30 days.
Strengthening Ties
This move is seen as a way to strengthen ties between the two countries. The decision comes after China made a similar move, allowing Russians to visit without a visa for the same duration.
Mutual Support
Both countries appear to be working together more closely, especially since Russia faced sanctions from the West. China has been a significant source of imports that Russia needs.
Details of the New Rule
- Valid until: September 2026
- Applies to: Tourists, business people, academics, artists, and athletes
- Does not apply to: Workers seeking long-term stays, students, or those in logistics and transport
China's Reciprocal Move
China's Foreign Ministry announced in September that Russian citizens with ordinary passports can also visit China without a visa for up to 30 days. This is part of a one-year program starting from September 15.
A Growing Partnership
This mutual agreement highlights a growing partnership between Russia and China, particularly during times of international tension.
