Romance Reboot: New Film Company Tackles Love Story Adaptation

USAWednesday, July 8, 2026

Magic Hour Entertainment, a new production company founded by Max Siemers and Tanner Anderson, is gearing up to adapt the bestselling romance novel Love and Other Words into a feature film. The book, penned by Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings under the pseudonym Christina Lauren, follows two friends who fall in love, drift apart for a decade, and then reunite to confront their shared past.

The founders emphasize that the film will capture the real feelings of first love and heartbreak, describing the story as “emotionally rich” and true to how people actually feel.

Company Vision

Magic Hour’s mission is clear: produce feature films centered on romance, modern dating, and romantic comedies. In addition to Love and Other Words, the studio is developing:

  • Ded – a film by Carlos López Estrada
  • Love Theoretically – an Amazon movie based on Ali Hazelwood’s novel, written and directed by Sofia Alvarez

Hazelwood’s debut novel The Love Hypothesis will stream on Prime Video this September.

Leadership and Experience

  • Max Siemers – former producer on Netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series; past roles at ACE Entertainment and AwesomenessTV.
  • Tanner Anderson – recently produced Lionsgate’s Turkey Bowl.

Both founders pledge that every project will pose a question about love or dating, reflecting contemporary doubts and realities.
