Republicans Fuel Transgender Politics in Election Campaigns
USASaturday, October 19, 2024
Cultural and social issues like these have been important in elections before. Years ago, Republicans fought against gay marriage, and it helped them win elections. But this time, they're spending a lot more money — over $65 million just on ads about transgender issues. Democrats think this might not work because most people care more about the economy and immigration. But Republicans hope it will get more of their supporters to vote.
One interesting thing is that even some people who usually vote for Democrats don't like the idea of boys playing in girls' sports. But it's not clear if this will really change how people vote.
