Rep. McCaul's Airport Hiccup: A Lesson in Mixing Meds

Ever heard of Ambien and alcohol? Well, U. S. Rep. Michael McCaul found out the hard way what happens when you mix them. He was flying home to Texas from D. C. , had a nervous flier's panic, and took Ambien to sleep. But wait, there's more! He also had a drink. This combo left him dazed and confused, missing his flight, and even locking himself out of his phone. Airport police spotted him and briefly detained him for being drunk in public around 9 p. m. on November 4.

McCaul, who chairs the powerful House Foreign Affairs Committee, was quick to take responsibility. He admitted it was a poor decision and thanked the officers for their help. The chairmanship he holds is term-limited, but McCaul hopes to stay on. He's played a big role in sending aid to Ukraine and pushing for TikTok to be sold to an American company. Despite the hiccup, he promises to keep supporting allies and putting pressure on foes like Russia and China.
