Reality Star Shakes Up LA Mayor Race

Los Angeles, USASaturday, April 4, 2026
Spencer Pratt, once known for his reality TV antics, has surged into second place in a recent poll for the Los Angeles mayoral race. The new survey from UCLA’s Luskin School of Public Affairs shows the incumbent, Karen Bass, leading with 25% support. Pratt follows closely with 11%, pushing a celebrity into the spotlight ahead of many experienced politicians and adding a new layer of unpredictability to the contest. City Councilmember Nithya Raman sits in third place, holding 9% of the vote share. The remaining candidates, fourteen in total, are spread across single digits and struggle to gain traction. A significant 40% of likely voters remain undecided just two months before the June 2 primary, indicating widespread uncertainty or dissatisfaction among the electorate.
The poll sampled 813 voters between March 15 and March 29, with a margin of error of plus or minus four percent. Experts note that such a high level of indecision so close to the election is rare, suggesting the race remains wide open. The uncertainty coincides with a noticeable decline in support for Bass: nearly half of respondents now view her unfavorably, up from 32% a year earlier. Other contenders are also finding it hard to make an impact. Housing advocate Rae Chen Huang and nonprofit leader Adam Miller each secure only 3% of the vote, while 9% of voters say they will back someone else entirely. These fragmented numbers hint at a divided electorate that could swing in either direction. If no candidate achieves an outright majority, the top two will face a runoff in November. With Pratt’s unexpected rise and Bass’s weakening position, the possibility of a second‑round showdown looks increasingly plausible. The race remains fluid, and voters’ final choices will shape the city’s future leadership.
