Put Your Mind at Ease: Mobile Phones & Brain Cancer - Separating Fact from Fiction
Friday, September 6, 2024
Back in 2011, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified radio waves as *potentially* carcinogenic. This caused a stir, but it's important to remember that 'potentially' doesn't mean 'definitely'. The IARC based its classification on limited human studies, some of which had questionable data. Think about it: did you ever exaggerate how much you used your phone in a survey? It happens!
The good news is that despite our increasing reliance on wireless technology, brain cancer rates haven't gone up. This reinforces the idea that our current safety limits for radio waves are working.
But, here's the thing: technology is constantly evolving. New devices and frequencies are popping up all the time. So, it's crucial that research continues to ensure our safety to ensure our safety.
