Prada's New Spacesuit for NASA's Lunar Mission: A Fresh Look

Imagine you're heading to the moon. Last year, Prada and Axiom Space teamed up to design a fancy new spacesuit for NASA's Artemis III mission. It's the first time humans will set foot on the moon since 1972. The suit was just unveiled at an astronautical congress in Milan, and it's not your average spacesuit. This one is white with red and gray highlights, making it look sleek and modern. But it's not just about looks. The design is meant to be more flexible and durable. It can handle an eight-hour spacewalk and stay warm in the lunar south pole's freezing temperatures for up to two hours.

Prada's designers and Axiom's engineers worked together to make sure the suit can protect astronauts from the moon's unique challenges. They tested it at various spaces like Axiom Space, SpaceX, and NASA. The suit is almost ready for its final review in 2025. NASA had planned to launch Artemis III in 2025, but they've pushed it back to at least September 2026. The space agency picked Axiom for the mission in 2022.
