Police and City Agencies Team Up to Combat Crime in Queens' Roosevelt Avenue
Queens, USAWednesday, October 16, 2024
The plan will run for 90 days. Deputy Commissioner Kaz Daughtry said that while they'll start on Roosevelt Avenue, the effects will be felt beyond these blocks. The area has seen lots of problems—unlicensed vendors, unregistered mopeds, and food carts without permits. All these issues make life harder for the community.
One of the worst crimes the task force is tackling is human trafficking. They'll work with social service groups to help victims with housing, medical care, counseling, and legal support. They're not stopping until everyone is rescued and every trafficker is caught.
