PlayStation Network Crashes: What’s Happening?

Have you been trying to jump back into your favorite game on your PS5 this weekend? Unfortunately, luck isn't on your side. PlayStation Network has gone down. It's been off and on since yesterday evening and takes everything from being able to log in to the whole store. This is the fifth outage we have seen in just a few months. The news started popping up at around 6 pm ET on Friday when some users began reporting major issues. By 8:45 pm, PlayStation support had acknowledged the problem. Gamers are being kept in the dark. No one knows just how big the problem is and or when it will be fixed. Has this problem been downgraded by the support team? Does anyone really know? PlayStation support is having a hard time keeping everyone online. The problems are affecting everyone including PS5, PS4, PS3 and PS Vita, and the PlayStation Store is also offline. This means you will have to wait until the gaming service is back up and running. It seems like a whole generation of players are sitting with their thumbs in their backpacks and no one wants to play Four Square. It seems this outage is worse than last October’s downtime, which lasted nine hours. Players are outraged. Thousands of players have taken to social media to share their frustration. Call of Duty enthusiasts are particularly upset. This outage is happening during a promotional weekend for Black Ops 6, where players could earn double experience points through the weekend. We all know punishment and rewards are a big part of game design. Is this choice for this weekend revenge on the game maker? Is Sony being transparent about the problem? It has not said when the issue will be fully resolved and users are still trying to get a fix for it. Players worldwide, from Japan to Australia and Brazil, are reporting problems.
