Penn State Players Bring Cheer to Children’s Hospital
The football squad from Penn State once again traveled from State College to the Golisano Children’s Hospital in Derry Township.
This visit is part of a yearly tradition that began during the tenure of the former coach.
Keeping the Spirit Alive
Now in his first season, Matt Campbell emphasized that the trip matters a great deal for the players.
He explained that since January, they have been learning how wearing their uniform can make a difference for others.
Seeing the kids and families in the hospital reminded them that their jerseys carry more than just a logo.
The coach praised the positive impact the team can have on patients’ lives, noting that playing for Penn State is a privilege that goes beyond the field.
Building Bonds and Perspective
The hospital visit also helps the team bond outside of practice.
Players share stories and laughs, strengthening their teamwork on the field while gaining perspective by meeting people who face daily challenges.
A Tradition of Giving Back
Overall, the trip reinforces a long‑standing Penn State tradition of giving back to the community.
It shows that athletes can use their platform for good, not just winning games.
