Paris Launches Probe into Elon Musk’s X Platform
Paris prosecutors have begun a formal investigation into X, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk. The inquiry focuses on allegations that X misused algorithms and disseminated false data, following Musk’s refusal to appear at a court summons on April 20.
Scope of the Investigation
The probe now covers:
- X. AI Holdings Corp
- X Corp
- xAI
- Elon Musk himself
- Former CEO Linda Yaccarino
Failure to appear before the court could result in warrants that would place these parties under official scrutiny.
Expanding Allegations
The investigation has broadened over recent months to include claims that X facilitated the spread of child pornography and enabled sexual deepfakes through its Grok technology. These accusations have intensified tensions between the United States and European regulators, especially regarding Big Tech influence and free speech.
Musk’s Response
Musk has dismissed the investigation as “politically motivated” and denied any involvement in illegal activity. Lawyers for X have yet to respond, and no statements from Musk’s representatives are available.
