Ozone Levels: What's in the Air and Why It Matters
Katowice, PolandWednesday, December 25, 2024
The results? Air temperature and total radiation had the biggest impact on ozone concentration. The hotter and sunnier it was, the higher the ozone levels. Interestingly, NO and NO2 had a weird dual effect. At low concentrations, they boosted ozone, but at higher levels, they reduced it. Wind direction didn't matter much, but wind speed had a slight effect.
So, what's the takeaway? In the Upper Silesian region, the main culprits behind high ozone levels were hot temperatures and strong sunshine. Understanding these factors can help us better predict and manage ozone pollution.
