Olga Liu Turns Graduation Project Into Wedding Biz Success

Olga Liu, a rising star from Ukraine now living in Utah, made her senior year at UVU the launchpad for a wedding‑planning startup called Vowlet.

Instead of sticking to textbook theory, she used her web design skills to build a real product that people can order online.

When she first arrived in 2017 as an international student, the idea of turning a school project into a business felt far‑off. By 2024, after becoming a U.S. resident and finishing her studies in web development with a focus on user experience, the concept had grown into a fully funded faculty‑backed venture.

Liu’s work didn’t stop in the classroom. She stepped into leadership roles, serving as a UVU Foundation Ambassador and interning with the engineering school’s marketing team. Looking ahead, she plans to keep Vowlet expanding across Utah while also creating a platform that supports local wedding vendors and connects creative talent. Her goal is to make the whole planning process smoother for couples, and to give small businesses a chance to thrive.
