Nurses' Spiritual Care Journey: A Closer Look at Gynecologic Cancer in Turkey

In Turkey, a recent study dove into how nurses feel about caring for patients with gynecologic cancer. The research team used a special method called phenomenological design, which is great for understanding people's experiences. They picked nurses who were already caring for these patients. This group was chosen using a technique called criterion sampling, and there were ten nurses in total. The study used interviews with a set of questions that weren't too strict, called a semi-structured interview guide. To break down all the chat, the team used a special software called MAXQDA. The study was checked against a list called the COREQ checklist.

After talking to the nurses, the researchers found some common themes. They grouped their thoughts into four main areas: what nurses actually do for spiritual care, how it affects them emotionally, things that get in the way of spiritual care, and ideas to make it better. One big takeaway was that nurses need more training to do spiritual care properly. Also, they need less work because it can be too much. Plus, there should be more rules and policies to get more nurses on board.
