North Aurora has just given the green light to a Mexican eatery, Mariscos El Catrin Del Mar, to host live entertainment. This isn't just about tacos and margaritas anymore; the village board has approved a special license for the restaurant to bring in live music, DJs, and other performers.

A Trial Period That Paved the Way

This decision didn't happen overnight. Back in August 2025, the village board increased the number of liquor licenses for the restaurant and approved a temporary 60-day license for entertainment. This trial period was a test to see if the restaurant could keep the noise levels in check.

Balancing Fun and Neighborhood Peace

Village Administrator Steve Bosco explained that these supplemental licenses are about balance. Restaurants can serve food and drinks, but adding live music or other entertainment can affect the neighborhood. So, the village wants to make sure that the fun doesn't turn into a nuisance.

Complaints and Clearances

During the trial period, there were two anonymous complaints about excessive noise. But the police checked it out and found that the music wasn't too loud. After 60 days, the board reviewed the situation and decided everything was fine.

A Boost for Business

Denise Gomez, a manager at the restaurant, is thrilled about the new license. She believes live entertainment will bring in more customers, especially on weekends. With performances, the restaurant can expect to see an extra 150 people on average.

Not the First of Its Kind

This isn't the first time North Aurora has issued such licenses. There are only three entertainment licenses in the village, including one for a local brewery and another for an event space.
