He was elected Quay County sheriff in 1987 and managed the county’s detention center. In his new campaign, he promises to strengthen crime‑reduction tactics by expanding treatment for substance abuse and mental health services. Allen, who took office in 2024, highlighted his record of modernizing public safety. He points to innovations such as using drones for first‑response duties and improving behavioral health support.
