Both have faced controversies in the past. Trump also chose Marco Rubio for Secretary of State and Scott Bessent, a hedge fund manager, for Treasury Secretary. Bessent was a big fundraiser for Trump's campaign. The bill aims to make sure these officials are working for the American people's best interests, not foreign governments.
