New Drugs to Tame High Cholesterol.

Mixed therapies, like statins plus ezetimibe, did not change. They kept a steady lead in both periods at 17%.
Drugs to remove PCSK9 inhibitors shot up from 33% to 40% between 2023 and 2024. PCSK9 inhibitors are designed to lower cholesterol levels also but in a different way.
Bempedoic acid, either as a standalone or mixed with ezetimibe, kept a stake in the market but below 2%.
Large levels of heart trouble are caused by high cholesterol.
Better drugs to lower cholesterol mean less heart trouble. Exercises and foods that lower cholesterol are also encouraged.
Keeping the cost of these drugs down is a puzzle not yet solved.
New drugs could solve this puzzle, but their cost might present a challenge. PCSK9 inhibitors are more expensive than most other drugs.
Health costs are always a concern for people on a low to medium income. Use of these drugs has to be good, There has also been a rise in health care costs through use of these drugs
