A year has passed since the shocking incident at Guaranteed Rate Field where two women were struck by gunfire during a White Sox vs. Oakland A's game.

Recently, a lawsuit was filed against the White Sox and the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority, alleging that negligent security measures enabled a firearm to be smuggled into the stadium.  The complaint, submitted by one of the shooting victims in Cook County Circuit Court, asserts that the gun was discharged within the ballpark's premises.

A White Sox representative declined to comment on the ongoing litigation, and the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority did not respond to inquiries. The Chicago Police Department confirmed that the investigation remains open.

An attorney representing one of the women stated that his client did not bring the weapon into the stadium. However, the identity of the woman who filed the lawsuit remains undisclosed.

In the aftermath of the shooting, White Sox Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf expressed skepticism about the possibility of a firearm being present inside the stadium, given the team's poor performance that season. Reinsdorf stated, 'I don't see any way in the world that the shots could have come from inside the ballpark.' However, the Chicago Police Superintendent has not ruled out the possibility that the shots originated from outside the stadium.
