Mystery Surrounds Man's Death in Abandoned Home

In September, the body of a 39-year-old Black man named Dennoriss Richardson was discovered in an abandoned Alabama home. He was found hanging by a rope. The Colbert County Sheriff's Office initially ruled his death a suicide, but his wife, Leigh Ann Richardson, isn't convinced. She believes his death is a setup to look like a suicide. Leigh Ann shared that her husband had been involved in a federal lawsuit against local police, accusing them of abuse during his time in jail. Her husband's fear of going back to prison might have had something to do with his death. The FBI is aware of the case and could be involved in further investigation.

"This isn't a suicide, " Leigh Ann told AL. com. She explained that Dennoriss, who was a baseball and football coach, wasn't depressed despite what the sheriff's office suggested. He even gave his son some of his jewelry before his death, intending to return to prison for an unfinished drug sentence. The sheriff's office claims they contacted other family members who said Dennoriss was depressed, but Leigh Ann disagrees. Colbert County Sheriff Eric Balentine said, "The department has done everything possible in the investigation. " The FBI has taken note of the case and will review if there's enough evidence for a federal law violation.
