Mystery, Justice and Noodles: A New Taiwanese Thriller
A fresh film is on the way from Taiwan’s rising director, who first wowed audiences with a boxing drama. The new project—still called “Ghostbusters Club” in early stages—promises a blend of folklore and police work that feels both familiar and daring.
The Premise
- Shu‑Miao: A calm spirit who runs a vegetarian noodle shop by day and performs exorcisms by night. She hears the voice of a Guanyin statue, guiding her through supernatural cases that blur belief and everyday life.
- Detective Sister Ying: Her partner, tracking a series of infant bodies hidden behind walls in upscale apartments.
- Villain: A drug kingpin nicknamed “Screw,” who uses Thai dark arts to conceal structural flaws in buildings—an allegory for corruption.
The film explores how human and divine justice can clash or cooperate, grounding ghosts in the emotional truth of its characters.
Director’s Vision
The director earned a Golden Horse Award for action choreography in her previous work. With Ghostbusters Club, she shifts toward a thriller that keeps supernatural elements realistic and emotionally resonant.

The project will debut at Berlin’s European Film Market, where the director’s first feature also premiered. The showcase offers international buyers a chance to witness the film’s potential and the director’s unique vision.
