Movie Theater Giant AMC Faces $27 Million Loss: What Happened?

AMC Entertainment, the world's largest theater chain, reported a loss of $27 million in their recent quarter. This is a significant shift from last year's profit of $12. 3 million. The problem? The summer blockbusters like "Deadpool & Wolverine" and "Twisters" weren't big enough hits to offset the company's costs. Revenue also took a dip, falling by 4. 1% to $1. 3 billion, compared to last year's $1. 4 billion. This time last year, movies like "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" were drawing big crowds, with fans even creating the fun catchphrase "Barbenheimer. " But this year, the lineup of films didn't generate quite the same buzz. Fewer people went to the movies, too. Attendance dropped from 73. 6 million to 65. 1 million. That meant less money from ticket sales—admissions revenue fell from $798 million to $744. 2 million. However, there was some good news: people spent more on snacks and drinks at the theater.
