In northwest Moscow, a grenade blast rocked an apartment building known for its high-end residents. The target? Armen Sarkisyan. This isn't just any name, though. Sarkisyan was a key ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.  He was responsible for creating a military unit called ArBat, which is based in the border region of Kursk. This unit is known for having some rough characters, according to Ukrainian intelligence.

Sarkisyan met his end after a bomb went off at the "Scarlet Sails" apartment complex on Aviatsionnaya Street. The blast left him seriously injured, and he was rushed to the hospital. The situation was grim.  His leg was badly damaged, and he was put in a coma.  In the end, he did not survive the injuries, despite the doctors' best efforts.  Russian news outlets were quick to report on the incident, describing the building as elite.

The explosion didn't just hurt Sarkisyan. It also claimed the life of another person and left four more wounded. The blast happened as Sarkisyan entered the building with his security team. The question on everyone's mind is who was behind this attack?  Some have pointed fingers at Ukraine, given they had been behind previous high-profile attacks. However, Ukraine has not taken credit for the blast in Moscow.

Sarkisyan was a Ukrainian separatist fighting against Kyiv. He was put in charge of forming the Arbat combat unit to battle Ukrainian forces. This unit, which was formed in September 2022, has been operating in the Kursk region since the summer of 2024. The unit is under the control of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The blast is still under investigation. Russian authorities are working to figure out who was behind the attempt on Sarkisyan's life. For now, the focus is on gathering evidence and understanding what led to the explosion. The public is waiting for answers, and the investigation is ongoing.
