Microsoft Pushes Back AI Screen Snap Gizmo Again

Microsoft has put off launching its screen-capturing AI feature, Recall, yet again. The tool, aimed at Windows Insiders, will now debut in December instead of October. The feature, designed to snap and save your computer activities, has faced pushback due to privacy concerns. Windows users have expressed worry about an AI that hovers over their activities like a creepy shadow.

Microsoft initially intended to introduce Recall in October, but now, it's December. The company has been working to address user fears by making Recall opt-in only. To use it, folks will need to enroll in Windows Hello or another secure method. The database will also have "just in time" decryption for safety. Yet, despite these tweaks, some remain unconvinced. The repeated delays and revisions beg the question: Will Recall ever get off the ground? Only time will tell, but Microsoft has a lot of work to do to win back trust.
