Mercedes' New CLA: Electric, Smart, and Stylish
North AmericaFriday, March 14, 2025
Driving the CLA is an experience. The electric version handles differently from the hybrid. The electric CLA responds more precisely to steering and throttle inputs, making it feel more agile. The hybrid, on the other hand, is more predictable and stable. The interior of the CLA is surprisingly spacious, with enough room for even tall passengers. The design team has used high-quality materials, making the interior feel luxurious. The new seat adjustment controls are sleek and weighty, adding to the overall premium feel.
The CLA's standout feature is its Supercreen, a near pillar-to-pillar display that includes screens for the driver, center, and passenger. Climate control vents are integrated into the glass surface, adding to the futuristic feel. The Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB. OS) is enhanced by AI, making the CLA more personalized than any other Mercedes. It uses AI from both Microsoft and Google, allowing for intuitive interactions. The system can answer questions, make reservations, and even suggest date ideas. The MBUX Virtual Assistant uses ChatGPT and Microsoft Bing for queries, and Google Gemini for navigation-related questions. This emotionally intelligent system can handle light conversation while keeping both hands on the wheel.
The CLA comes with advanced safety features, including eight cameras, five radar sensors, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. It also has a high-performance computer designed for future updates. While the CLA doesn't have the same self-driving technology as the EQS Sedan and S-Class, it does offer automation-enhanced steering, distance maintenance, acceleration, and braking. Mercedes aims to provide a safe driving experience with these features.
