Measuring Leprosy Patient Stigma: A New Tool for Ambon

Stigma in leprosy patients is a serious issue, and measuring it accurately is crucial for effective interventions. The SARI Stigma Scale is a tool designed to assess stigma, but it's not available in all languages. Specifically, there's no version in Ambonese-Malay, the language of Ambon, an area where leprosy is endemic. This study focuses on creating and testing a reliable version of the SARI Stigma Scale in Ambonese-Malay. The study aims to ensure that the new tool is both valid and reliable. Validity means it accurately measures what it's supposed to, and reliability means it gives consistent results. By creating a local language version, healthcare workers in Ambon can better understand and address the stigma faced by leprosy patients.
