Date: December 12 Location: Denver International Airport (DIA)

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has issued a measles alert for individuals who were at Denver International Airport (DIA) on December 12.

Exposure Details

  • Arrival: Gate B45 at 7:24 p.m.
  • Departure: Gate B84 at 9:41 p.m. for another flight

Passengers on these flights have been notified by their local health departments.

Vaccination Status

The individual with measles was fully vaccinated, which significantly reduces the risk of transmission but does not eliminate it entirely. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), even with two doses of the vaccine, about 3 out of 100 people can still contract measles if exposed.

Symptoms to Watch For

Measles symptoms typically begin with:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Runny nose
  • Red eyes

A rash usually appears a few days later, starting on the face and spreading throughout the body.

If you were at DIA on December 12, monitor for symptoms until January 2. If any symptoms develop, contact your healthcare provider immediately.

Important Reminder

While vaccines are highly effective, they are not 100% foolproof. Health officials urge everyone to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions when required.
