Imagine a region where nations are struggling to keep their heads above the water, and their economy is sinking like a stone.

        Marco Rubio, the U. S. Secretary of State, is off on his first international trip to Panama.  They are not happy about President Trump’s aggressive moves, like trying to take back the Panama Canal with military force.  They are also feeling the pinch from Trump’s policies, like sending back lots of deported migrants on military planes.

        The region is already going through a tough time.  Trump’s policies, like sending people back to their home countries and stopping foreign aid, have left many countries feeling uncertain about their future.  This region has many countries, and it is very fractured.  This makes it easy for the U. S. to manipulate them.  It's every man for himself out there.

        Central America is not the only place feeling the heat.  U. S. leaders have been trying to talk to them.  But they consistently have been rebuffed.  Yet, Trump is talking about Panama a lot.  He even gave it a shout-out in his Inaugural Address.  He mentioned Panama six times, while other countries like Iran and Russia weren’t even mentioned once.  So, the stakes are high for sure.

        This is a critical time for the region.  Latin America has been trying to talk to Trump’s team.  However, they have been turned away time and time again.  Now, with Trump in charge and focusing on Latin America, things are getting intense.

        The countries of Central America are trying to find their footing.  They are looking for a way to deal with the U. S.  They are hoping to find a way to navigate this tense situation.  They are unsure of what the future holds.  They are trying to figure out how to work with the U. S.  They are trying to avoid being manipulated.  They are trying to protect their economies and their people.  It is a tricky situation.

        The region is on edge.  They are feeling the pressure from the U. S.  The future is uncertain.  The countries of Latin America have their work cut out for them.
