Mandy Moore Fights Back Against Critics of Her GoFundMe Share

Actress Mandy Moore is standing up to critics who questioned her decision to share a GoFundMe page for her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, who lost their home in the Los Angeles wildfires. Moore’s post received backlash from some followers who thought it was insensitive, given her success as an actor. “With their first baby on the way in a matter of weeks, they need our support now more than ever, ” Moore wrote.

Some of her followers didn’t agree, pointing out Moore’s wealth. “Sorry but you’re a millionaire and have wealthy friends. Why are you asking people for money? ” one commenter asked. Moore’s home was also damaged by the fires. She disabled comments on her post and added a note addressing the criticism. “People questioning if we’re helping our own family are not being helpful or empathetic, ” she wrote. “Of course we are. We just lost most of our life in a fire. Kindly back off. ” The wildfires have been devastating, destroying over 10, 000 structures and forcing nearly 180, 000 people to evacuate. Moore’s earlier post shared that her Altadena home was damaged but still standing. “Miraculously, the main part of our house is still standing, ” she wrote. “For now. It’s not livable but mostly intact. ”
