Maine's Democrats: Time to Step Up and Lead

Maine's Democratic leaders are falling short. They're not standing up for what's right. They're playing it safe. But safe isn't good enough. Not when so much is at stake.

Health Care: A Missed Opportunity

Take health care, for example. Democrats had a chance to fight for lower prices. They could have stood up to the insurance industry. But they didn't. They gave in. Now, prices are skyrocketing. And who's paying the price? Everyday Americans.

Local Inaction: Fear Over Principle

It's not just happening in Washington. It's happening right here in Maine. Our leaders had a chance to pass a bill. It would have stopped federal agents from hiding their identities. But they didn't even give it a hearing. Why? Because they were afraid. Afraid of what? Afraid of standing up for what's right.

Immigration: Delayed Action

And what about immigration? Maine's Democrats took their time. They waited. They hesitated. They only acted when they had no choice. That's not leadership. That's following.

Systemic Issues: Cuts and Taxes

Our leaders are missing chances to help people. They're not fighting back against cuts to Medicaid, housing, and education. These cuts will hurt everyone. Even the wealthiest communities. But our leaders won't even consider raising taxes on the rich. They say it's too progressive. Too progressive? Or just too fair?

Local Leadership: Dropping the Ball

Even at the local level, our leaders are dropping the ball. The Cumberland County Commission won't stop using the county jail as an ICE detention facility. Even after ICE detained the jail's own staff. It's time for our leaders to reflect the values of our diverse and welcoming community.

A Call to Action

Maine's Democrats need to step up. They need to fight for what's right. They need to stand up for the people. They need to lead. Because right now, they're not doing enough. And it's time for that to change.
