London’s New Crime Drama: “Capital” Set to Hit Amazon

London, United KingdomThursday, July 9, 2026
Amazon MGM Studios is moving forward with a fresh crime series called “Capital. ” The show will be set in modern London and is being written, co‑created, directed and produced by filmmaker Guy Ritchie. He teams up with Rob Williams—known for BBC’s “The Victim” and Netflix’s “The Witness”—to craft the story. Vice Studios, through Marc Resteghini’s Jack Tar Pictures, will also produce the project. This marks Ritchie’s second Amazon venture. His previous crime‑comedy “Young Sherlock, ” starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin, was a hit on Prime Video and has already earned a renewal for a second season. The success of that series helped secure the green light for “Capital. ” Ritchie’s production partner, Ivan Atkinson, joins as an executive producer, along with Dhana Rivera Gilbert and Resteghini.
At this early stage, no actors have been announced for “Capital. ” The series is still in development, and details about the plot and characters remain under wraps. Fans of Ritchie’s gritty London tales will likely be intrigued by the new project’s promise to explore the city’s underworld. Amazon’s British division is also developing other projects. A sequel to the popular drama “The Girlfriend, ” titled “The Boyfriend, ” will explore masculinity themes, while a Swedish miniseries called “Sarek” is set to premiere on Prime Video Nordics. Meanwhile, Vice Studios is working with sports journalist Pablo Torre on a drama about sports ownership and corruption. Jack Tar Pictures, led by former Amazon executive Marc Resteghini, holds a first‑look deal with Amazon MGM Studios. Their upcoming slate includes an animated adaptation of Tui T. Sutherland’s “Wings of Fire” novels and a series inspired by the music of Billy Joel.
