In the bustling city of Dar es Salaam, living with HIV comes with a heavy burden. Stigma is a constant companion, making life harder for those affected. Between December 2021 and June 2022, a study shed light on how this stigma impacts their daily lives.

The Impact of Stigma
Stigma affects people with HIV in three major ways:
1. Health
- Many skip clinic appointments
- Struggle with medication adherence
- Experience weight loss and other health problems
2. Mental and Emotional Well-being
- Common issues: Fear, stress, depression
- Families face instability
- Social interactions become limited
- Learning environments turn difficult
3. Financial Stability
- Many lose jobs or are denied employment
- Financial support dries up
- Life becomes even more challenging

To improve the quality of life for those living with HIV:
- Community education and awareness campaigns
- Peer support groups
- Microeconomic initiatives
