Lights, Camera, Change!

As the New Year approaches, it's time to look ahead and hope for a fresh start in the entertainment world. The industry has been on a rollercoaster, and not always in a good way. Let's start with the big screen. Superhero movies have started to lose their shine. Some big names like "Madame Web" and "Kraven The Hunter" didn't quite hit the mark. Even Sony's CEO tried to blame the critics, but come on, the audience wasn't really feeling it. Marvel, however, took a smart step back and scored a hit with "Deadpool & Wolverine. " It was something different, a buddy comedy, and people loved it. DC seems to be following suit with their "Superman" reboot. But Disney's Marvel is planning to drop three films in the first half of the year. Will that be too much, too soon? Only time will tell.

Over on Broadway, it's been a bit of a British invasion that hasn't always gone well. Shows like "Back to the Future: The Musical" and "Caroline, Or Change" didn't set the stage on fire. Even Elton John's expensive "Tammy Faye" didn't make it. There have been some successes, sure, but maybe it's time to rethink the strategy of bringing over so many UK productions. Broadway and the West End are not the same, and maybe it's time to realize that. TV has also been a bit of a puzzle. The era of peak TV seems to be over, and now we're left with a lot of niche shows that nobody seems to be talking about. It's like they're there, but not really. What happened to shows that everyone talks about? It's time to bring back the water-cooler moments. Give us something to really get excited about.
