Lightdash's Open Source BI Platform Gets Funding to Integrate AI
San Francisco Bay Area, USAWednesday, October 9, 2024
One of the challenges with using generative AI in enterprises is data security. However, Lightdash ensures that its AI analyst uses the same API as its standard product, meaning companies don’t face additional risks. The AI analyst mainly uses metadata for analysis, and companies can control what information they share with the AI. They can also choose their preferred LLM provider, which can help alleviate concerns about sensitive data.
Since its commercial launch two years ago, Lightdash has expanded its services to include a hosted cloud version of its open source product. Over 5,000 teams now use the open source product, often as a starting point before upgrading to the commercial edition. The company has seen significant growth, with revenues increasing seven-fold in the past year. They have notable customers like Workday, Beauty Pie, Hypebeast, and Morning Brew.
With the new funding, Lightdash plans to expand its team and product offerings, including new features like the AI analysts. The team, currently split between Europe and the U.S., consists of 13 members. Besides Accel, the Series A round included participation from Operator Partners, Shopify Ventures, Y Combinator, and several angel investors.
