Learning Chemo Administration: Students Love VR Training

Imagine learning how to administer chemotherapy without any real-world risks. That's what a group of nursing students did, thanks to a smartphone virtual reality (VR) training program. This study looked into how well nursing students accepted this new way of learning. The VR training was designed to help students practice the steps of chemotherapy administration in a safe, controlled environment. Fifty-six nursing students from different backgrounds tried it out and gave their opinions. They were asked about how useful and easy-to-use they found the VR training, and whether they'd use it again.

The results showed that students found the VR training helpful and easy to use. The more complex they thought the chemotherapy process was, the more they liked the VR training. Age also played a role, with older students having a more positive attitude toward using VR. In the end, the study found that VR could explain about 63% of why students wanted to use it again. This suggests that VR can be a great tool for teaching complicated and risky procedures in nursing.
