Kids with Asthma and COVID-19 Vaccines: What Iran's Parents Think

The COVID-19 pandemic, announced in early 2020, pushed for quick protective measures, with vaccines at the forefront. Although vaccines were developed and distributed rapidly, many people are still unsure about getting them. This study looks at why some parents in Iran might be hesitant to have their asthmatic children vaccinated against COVID-19, and what makes others accepting of it. When it comes to kids with asthma, there are some unique concerns. Asthma is a lung condition that can make breathing difficult, and parents may worry that a vaccine could cause side effects or make asthma symptoms worse. However, vaccines are typically safe and can help protect against severe illness, which is especially important for children with health conditions like asthma.

In Iran, where this study took place, the acceptance of vaccines can be influenced by many factors. These include trust in healthcare systems, access to accurate information, and personal beliefs. Some parents might be more open to vaccines if they see other families doing it, or if they get clear, reliable information from healthcare providers.
