Kicker's Last-Second Kick Steals Victory for Cardinals
Arizona, USATuesday, October 22, 2024
With 1:54 left, the Cardinals got the ball back at their own 30-yard line. Their quarterback, Kyler Murray, led a quick 7-play drive. He had help from a 15-yard penalty against the Chargers and a 33-yard pass to James Conner, which got them to the Chargers' 22-yard line. That set up Ryland's game-winning kick.
Even though the Chargers outgained the Cardinals in total yards (395 to 326), they couldn't quite finish their drives. They stalled at the Arizona 41, 32, 10, 29, and 22-yard lines.
The Chargers' quarterback, Justin Herbert, had a good game. He completed 27 out of 39 passes for 349 yards. Will Dissly caught 8 passes for 81 yards, and Joshua Palmer caught 4 for 63 yards. Murray, the Cardinals' quarterback, wasn't far behind. He completed 14 out of 26 passes for 145 yards, including a touchdown and an interception. He also ran for a 44-yard touchdown and had 64 yards on 6 carries. Conner, the Cardinals' running back, rushed for 101 yards on 19 carries and caught 2 passes for 51 yards. Greg Dortch caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Murray.
