Keeping Your Security Cameras Safe in Winter
USAMonday, December 22, 2025
Try to avoid placing the camera in windy areas. Wind can blow dust and debris into the camera. It can also blow rain and snow onto the camera.
If you live in a very cold area, you might want to consider a camera enclosure. This is like a little house for your camera. It will protect it from the elements. But enclosures can be expensive and require maintenance. So, only use them if you really need to.
If you have a wired camera, make sure the cables are rated for outdoor use. They should have a silicone cap or connector shield. This will protect them from moisture.
Finally, make sure your camera is mounted firmly. If you live in an area with bad winter weather, use screw-in mounts. Don't use adhesive mounts. They can't handle the cold.
