Jessica Simpson's Thanksgiving: Family Comes First Despite Split
Despite their ongoing separation, Jessica Simpson and her estranged husband, Eric Johnson, came together for a united Thanksgiving celebration.
A Family Affair
The couple, parents to three children, spent the holiday at Simpson's mother's house. Simpson emphasized the importance of family, noting that Johnson is the father of her kids and that all grandparents were present.
Handling Breakups During the Holidays
Simpson, now 45, and Johnson, 46, announced their separation in January after nearly a decade of marriage. They share daughters Maxwell Drew, 13, and Birdie Mae, 6, and son Ace Knute, 12.
When asked for advice on handling breakups during the holidays, Simpson stressed the importance of unconditional love and respect, especially around the children.
Thanksgiving Traditions
Simpson revealed that her mother, Tina, did most of the cooking, while she and her sister Ashlee, 41, watched the Dallas Cowboys. Simpson is set to perform at Foxwood Casino in Connecticut on December 7.
She mentioned that her kids attended the Yale versus Harvard football game with Johnson, as he played football at Yale before going pro.
Embracing Life's Unexpected Turns
In October, Simpson spoke about embracing life's unexpected turns following her split from Johnson. She admitted that being single at 45 with three kids was not what she had planned, but she is learning to accept it.
Simpson also shared that she is enjoying her newfound singledom and has a preference for younger men at the moment.
