Jason Kidd's New Venture: Baseball Dreams Take the Field
Jason Kidd, known for his basketball prowess, is stepping into a new arena with the launch of JK Select Baseball. This initiative aims to create a nationwide network of over 1,000 teams, starting with a focus on the Dallas area.
A Vision Beyond the Game
Kidd's vision extends beyond just the game; he wants to invest in young players and their mentors, fostering growth and positive experiences.
Roots in Baseball
Kidd's passion for baseball stems from his childhood, growing up in the Bay Area and being a fan of the Athletics. He recalls the era of Rickey Henderson, Jose Canseco, and Mark McGwire, which sparked his love for the sport.
Structured for Success
The program is structured in three tiers:
- Elite national teams for ages 14-17
- Dallas-area teams in the same age range
- Licensing options for various age groups
Building Life Skills
Kidd believes that sports can help young people make better life decisions and build relationships, something he wishes he had known more about as a kid.
A Journey of Inspiration
Kidd's journey from a basketball star to a coach and now an entrepreneur in youth sports is inspiring. He has already made a significant impact with his JK Select Girls Basketball program, producing 45 Division I athletes.
Expanding Horizons
His goal is to expand this success into other sports, including volleyball, soccer, and lacrosse, believing that investing in youth sports can yield great returns.
Commitment to Young Talent
Despite the Dallas Mavericks' recent struggles, Kidd remains energized by coaching young talent like Cooper Flagg. His new venture into baseball shows his commitment to nurturing young athletes and providing them with the resources and belief they need to succeed.
