Japan's New Way to Prove You're Human

In Japan, a significant shift is underway. MEDIROM, in collaboration with Tools for Humanity and World Foundation, aims to ensure users can authenticate their human identity online. This initiative is crucial as AI advances in mimicking human behavior.

MEDIROM's Role

With 300 locations across Japan, MEDIROM will facilitate human verification as part of the World project, spearheaded by Sam Altman and Alex Blania. The project seeks to establish trust in digital interactions.

Verification Process

MEDIROM is assembling a dedicated team to set up verification centers. These centers will use privacy-protected cameras to confirm human identity. The company anticipates this will boost revenue and strengthen Japan's digital trust ecosystem.

Beyond Verification

MEDIROM also operates wellness salons and develops health tech products, including the MOTHER Bracelet, a smart tracker used in caregiving and manufacturing.

Koji Eguchi, MEDIROM's CEO, views this project as pivotal for the future. Tomoe Makino, representing Tools for Humanity in Japan, believes it will enhance trust in technology.
