Israel's Dilemma: Strike or Negotiate?
Friday, October 4, 2024
Plus, attacking Iran's nuclear abilities could make the leaders in Tehran do things they currently avoid. Although U.S. intelligence says Ayatollah Khamenei hasn’t ordered making weapons yet, this might change if Israel bombs their country. The need to protect themselves could make them take steps they normally wouldn’t.
So what should Israel do? Diplomacy and pressure are still the best ways forward—trying to get Tehran to agree to a strong nuclear deal that truly controls its program. Meanwhile, Jerusalem can keep up secret operations to watch and disrupt any sneaky activities. A big war with Iran would be a huge risk, not worth taking.
