Inside sources suggest that Ubisoft may have abandoned the Watch Dogs series.

This revelation comes from Tom Henderson, who shared his insights on the Insider Gaming podcast. He noted that the team behind Watch Dogs Legion felt the game needed more development time before its release.

Post-Legion Developments

After Legion's launch, the developers began work on another project, which was later canceled. Henderson clarified that this canceled game was not part of the Watch Dogs series. He also stated that the franchise itself is no longer active at Ubisoft.

"As far as I know right now, the Watch Dogs IP is completely dead."

He added that while some Ubisoft employees still appreciate the series—even creating fan art—the company has never fully committed to it.

Watch Dogs Legion: A Bold but Flawed Experiment

Watch Dogs Legion, released in 2020, introduced a revolutionary gameplay feature: players could choose to play as any character in a futuristic London. However, the game received mixed reviews and underperformed compared to Ubisoft's expectations.

Ubisoft's Strategic Shifts

Ubisoft is currently reassessing many of its major franchises as part of broader company changes. However, no official statement has been made regarding the future of Watch Dogs.
