Is “Reply All” the New Show‑Stopper in Friend Groups?
A group of friends who love music had a routine: they sent emails to share news and plan gatherings. One day, one friend wrote that she was feeling ill and might not join them soon.
Most people hit “reply all” so everyone saw the message. I chose to send a private note instead, letting her know I was thinking of her.
Another friend asked why she didn’t see a reply from me, and I explained that I had messaged her directly.
This made me think: do we now need to use “reply all” just so others believe we care? Is it becoming a way to keep score of how many people notice us?
The answer is simple.
You can still be kind without broadcasting it to everyone. It isn’t necessary to perform a public show of sympathy just to avoid being overlooked.
Staying true to your style and caring privately can be just as meaningful, if not more.
