Is Microsoft's New Screenshot Tool Safe?
UNKNOWNFriday, December 13, 2024
Microsoft said you can tell Recall not to screenshot specific websites. They also encouraged users to report any issues through their Feedback Hub. The company is still working out the kinks in this beta version. Recall is an opt-in feature, and it's off by default. It's important to remember that this is still a work in progress. Microsoft has to consider every possible way someone could access sensitive information through this tool.
Some people might find Recall useful, but it's best to use it for a while before deciding if it's worth it. You need to build up a good number of screenshots and see how well it works for you. It's also a bit strange to know that your work, conversations, and online activities are being recorded. What's even more surprising is that Microsoft planned to release Recall without all this extra fine-tuning half a year ago.
