Is Fluoride in Water Still Worth It?
Friday, October 4, 2024
A recent study examined over 150 other studies comparing tooth decay rates between kids living in areas with fluoride and those without it. Before the mid-1970s, adding fluoride to water made a big difference – each kid had about two fewer cavities on average. But after that, the benefit dropped dramatically. We’re talking just 0.24 fewer decayed baby teeth!
So, is it still worthwhile? That depends on who you ask. Some people think the benefits are greater than the risks, while others aren't so sure. It's a complicated situation with no easy answers. But one thing is clear: we should all stay informed about what’s in our water.
