How Teamwork Can Beat Violence Against Women

Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is a big problem globally. It affects health, money, and human rights. The United Nations wants to stop all forms of VAWG by 2030, but progress is slow. One reason is that researchers from different fields don't work together enough. This keeps us from getting good data and holding governments accountable. Over the past 30 years, we've made good progress in how we study VAWG. But researchers often work alone in their own fields, which slows down progress. To fix this, we need to encourage researchers to work together across different fields. This can help us understand VAWG better and prevent it more effectively.

We suggest four ways to make this happen: 1. Use different types of VAWG data to get a full picture. 2. Make sure we're clear about what VAWG is and what its effects are. 3. Find ways to encourage people to report VAWG more accurately. 4. Make sure our research is ethical and fair. By working together, researchers, institutions, and donors can speed up VAWG prevention. This will help us now and in the future.
