How Face-Space Properties Affect Our Face Recognition Skills

In a study, 52 people did a face detection task. They saw faces that were either typical or quite distinctive. Typical faces were easier to spot, which matches what we already know. The interesting part? The researchers found that neither the distances between faces (expansion) nor how these distances change (adaptability) actually helped in understanding why some people are better at face recognition than others.
While this study didn't find a direct link, it's possible that future research might use better ways to measure face-space properties. For now, it seems that these two specific aspects of face-space don't play a big role in how well we recognize faces.
