How Do Zebrafish Larvae React to Quick Stress?

Handling stress is a big deal in fish farming. Zebrafish, a common fish in labs and farms, hasn't been studied enough for their stress response when they're young. Scientists wanted to see how zebrafish larvae react to a sudden stress situation. They spun the tiny fish in a vortex for a minute and checked their behavior and body changes after 10 minutes, 1 hour, and 4 hours. They looked at things like stress hormones, energy levels, and how well the fish could handle stress.

The fish swam faster and farther, but their stress hormones and sugar levels didn't change much. Their metabolic rate went up, and some of their stress-fighting enzymes got weaker. This shows that even a short, mild stress can affect fish, and it doesn't always work the same way as in adults. Zebrafish larvae could be a good model to study early stress responses in fish.
